So while Syracuse University students were away, we began digging into the ground onsite at the future student apartment building going up near the University. Construction has started on a six-story, 54-unit student apartment building called #BLVD404.
Workers demolished a long-vacant medical office building on the site at 404 University Ave. three weeks ago and last week began work on the new building’s foundation.
Jared Hutter, one of the three Syracuse University graduates who are partners in the project, said the building will be able to house up to 163 students. It will be ready for occupancy in the fall of 2016, he said. Rents have not yet been set, but Hutter said they will be competitive with rents in the area.
